Behind The Manning
The team.
Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith is the steward of the series. He works out of North Carolina and has spent the better part of a decade buying houses that other people had given up on. He keeps the office small on purpose. He walks every Manning property before it is purchased and stays on site through the rough framing, the trim, and the final walk. He reads more than he talks. He answers his own phone. The series is his attempt to put his name on work that holds up to a closer look than the market usually asks for.
Attollo Group
Attollo Group is the construction arm. Every Manning house passes through Attollo's hands from estimate to final punch. The team is deliberately small: a project manager, a rotating bench of trusted trades, and the founder on site more often than not. Attollo carries the framing, the rough mechanicals, the cabinetry build-out, the trim, and the finish. It also handles outside construction work between Manning projects, which keeps the trades sharp and the calendar honest. The same hands that hang a piece of crown on a Manning have hung crown on a hundred houses before it.
Acknowledgments
The Manning takes its name from a friend whose counsel, patience, and quiet generosity made the first issue of this series possible. He has asked for no public recognition, and so none is given here. He knows. The house knows.
With particular thanks to the friend who made this possible.
